Steve arrived in Alaska June 1983, and has made it my home for most of the past 31 years. He earned a BSc in Mining Geology from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, and a MSc in Geological Engineering from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Steve has 20 years of experience in the mineral industry, primarily gold, ranging from generative exploration in Alaska to near mine exploration in Peru and mine Geology in Nevada. In 2004 Steve joined the State of Alaska’s Department of Transportation where he managed the Northern Region’s Engineering Geology program.He joined DGGS in June 2013 as Division Operations Manager, and since May 2014 served as State Geologist and Director.
