Dan is a partner of Deloitte Tax Law LLP.  He practices in the fields of commercial law, federal regulatory matters, international trade, customs, commodity tax and tax litigation. 

Dan has obtained extensive experience with federal licencing, regulatory and enforcement matters during his carreer.  His experience with Health Canada matters began as a staff lawyer for the federal Department of Justice in 1990. 

Dan entered private practice in 1997.  Since that time he has provided legal representation and advice to foreign and domestic businesses on federal matters including importation, licencing and marketing provisions which have been administered and enforced by Health Canada.    

In addition to providing legal advice, he has significant dispute resolution and litigation experience relating to the administration and enforcement of defeal matters. 

Dan has appeared as legal counsel before administrative tribunals, the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal for British Columbia, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

He is on the board of directors of several business orgnaizations and is a regular speaker at business events.  Recently he provided a presentation on top legal and regulatory issues for medical marijuana businesses. 

Dan is an author of Carswells Annotated Customs Act 2014, Canadian Customs Law and numerous other publications.
