Originally from Canada, Michael holds a Masters Degree in Mining Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer. He is also a registered representative, having completed the Series 7, Series 24, and Series 63 in the USA and the Canadian Securities Commission course. Michael also holds a diploma in Regulatory Law.
His background provides a firm foundation for assessing mine productivity and mineral discovery. Prior to working for Global Resources, Michael was a Project Engineer at Placer Dome (now Barrick Gold) and the Exploration Manager for Atapa Minerals in Indonesia. He also worked with Inmet Mining and Falconbridge Ltd (now Xstrata). He is proud that his thesis on underground block cave mining was so successful that it was commissioned by INCO Ltd, a major nickel mining company, and is still used today as a tool in mine development in the industry worldwide.
At Global Resources, Michael focuses on evaluating how resource companies are developing their projects. He travels extensively to appraise sites in South America, Asia, Africa and North America, paying keen attention to management, their economic plans and the geo-political environment in which they operate. For those projects with which he becomes involved, Michael continues to follow up with their progress and development on-site.
