Lucara Diamond Corp., a Lundin Group company, is a Canadian headquartered diamond mining company with a producing mine and prospecting licenses located in the Orapa/Letlhakane Kimberlite district of Botswana. Lucara’s key asset is its 100% owned Karowe Mine - a state-of-the-art mine which was fully commissioned in Q2 2012. Karowe is a large-scale asset that has consistently recovered large, high-value Type IIa diamonds, including the World’s highest and second highest valued rough diamonds on record.
In Q3 2017 Lucara Diamond Corp. announced favourable results of a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the development of an underground mine that has the potential to extend Karowe’s current mine life by greater than 10 years, beyond the depletion of current open pit operations in 2026. Based on the favourable PEA, Lucara will endeavour to complete a Pre-Feasibility Study, with an anticipated release in Q2, 2018.
