About

In March 2014, GreenStep launched an online platform to help SME’s measure, report on and reduce their environmental and carbon impacts, based on international standards for sustainability and carbon reporting. Our cloud-based software, EcoBase, is currently a fully functioning carbon calculator, and we are working to develop it into a comprehensive sustainability and carbon benchmarking and reporting program.

In the most comprehensive survey of Corporate Responsibility ever published, in 2011 KPMG found that 95% of the G250 Fortune 500 companies are voluntarily reporting on sustainability. The voluntary carbon market was valued at $500 million in 2012 and is expected to reach over $1 billion by 2020.

Most products and services for measuring and reporting on sustainability and carbon are targeted at large businesses, yet 98%, over 30 million businesses in North America, are considered SME’s. The services targeted at big business are too expensive, too complicated and not designed to meet the needs of SME’s.

GreenStep Solutions Inc. is a profitable service and technology firm founded in 2008, with the specific goal of meeting the unique challenges faced by SMEs that are looking to address sustainability and carbon issues. In addition to our software, our team of sustainability experts conducts energy assessments, waste audits, measures carbon footprints and writes sustainability reports. We also train green teams and help companies create sustainability action plans.

GreenStep also holds the exclusive Canadian license to deliver the world’s largest third party sustainability certification program for the tourism and hospitality industry.

GreenStep’s purpose is to “change the world by making sustainable business more profitable than business as usual.” Our big, hairy, audacious goal is to “become the business most known for improving the social, environemental and economic performance of small and medium-sized organizations.”
